After having spent almost 30 years studying and working as an apprentice in a watch factory in Shanghai, Albert Reed founded the watch company Arbutus with his brother in the early 1980’s.

Reed decided to name the company after his home town in Canada, which was largely destroyed in a fire. In New York, Reed and his brother imported movements and assembled and sold his timepieces in the US.

In 1992, Reed decided to retire, Target Inc. collaborated with Bomass Ltd. to purchase “Arbutus”, and start marketing Arbutus timepieces worldwide. Arbutus chief designer, Mr. Vincent Romeo, has created many famous brand products. He takes particular pleasure in merging varying imaginative concepts from Asia, Europe and America to provide cutting-edge designs.

Since that time, Arbutus has grown and its engineers ensure the finest mechanical quality of Arbutus designs. The brand has gained an international fashion profile.
