Cacharel is a French brand of ready-to-wear clothing, perfume and accessories. It was created in 1962 by Jean Bousquet, who founded the company of the same name in 1964. Cacharel is named after the local name of the garganey (Anas querquedula, a small duck) in the Camargue (cacharel, standard French sarcelle d’été).
Jean Bousquet, is still the CEO of the company. He has been the first to use seersucker for clothes. Many well known designers contributed to Cacharel's fashion style: Agnès B, Azzedine Alaia, Emmanuelle Khanh, Lolita Lempika. Soon after, accessories, perfume and a youth line were added. The perfume Anaïs Anaïs became and still is a world hit. In 2000, Jean Bousquet decided to relaunch Cacharel and hired the husband and wife designers team of Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro known as Clements Ribeiro. Their first collection is presented in October 2000 on the catwalk. Their new line is young and fresh with a japonese look.
