Kashio Tadao, founder of Casio Computer Co. Ltd., was born in Kureta-mura (now Nankoku City, Japan) in 1917. After graduating from high school, Tadao began working as an apprentice to a lathe operator. The factory owner recognized Tadao’s skill and encouraged him to begin studies at Waseda Koshu Gakko (now Waseda University), while still working at the factory. He gained experience in a variety of jobs, making pots, pans, and bicycle generator lamps, and soon earned a reputation for himself and received subcontracts to process parts.
In 1946, Tadao set up his own business called Kashio Seisakujo, in Mitaka, Tokyo. Casio was born. It might not be common-knowledge but his first product wasn't a watch but a finger ring, called 'Yubiwa pipe' that held a cigarette. In fact, it wasn't till 1974 when Casiowanted to bring more diversity to their product line, that they released their first watch, named 'Casiotron', which only sounds like a giant robot. The watch featured a fully automatic calendar, which included month lengths and leap years. Some time after this in 1983, the very first 'G-Shock' watch, the DW-5000C was released. In 1995 the 'G-Shock' watch had an upgrade, it now featured an 'Illuminator' or 'Foxfire', back-light. The DW-5600E was the first 'G-Shock' sporting a full EL, LCD panel. Casio's corporate creed is "creativity and contribution." It expresses the company's commitment to contributing to society by offering the kind of original, useful products that only Casio can.
Constant forward progress is an essential part of Casio's identity. Casio watches also bring joy to people and help to create new culture. When even a single new Casio watches is widely adopted, whole new markets develop, and this in turn fosters growth in related industries. This is the story of Casio's contribution to society-innovative products enhancing people's lives. For example the advantages of radio-controlled watches are obvious: once settled on the time zone, they always show the exact local time. All radio-controlled watch CASIO capture time signals in most of Europe. Other models also capture signals in the United States, in parts of Canada and Mexico (the tower of Fort Collins transmitter sends radio signals within a radius of 3 200 km maximum), as well as Japan or China.
True to this creed, Casio strives to fulfill its responsibilities as a good corporate citizen by minimizing its environmental impact, developing products that are more and more compact, lightweight, and energy efficient. With Casio watches which can be found onJewelrama's website you would not be disappointed.
